Files.fm Library | P2P file catalog and marketplace

This time I will present a project related to storing files online with the development of using blockchain technology. Immediately let's look at the brief review.

Problems encountered together with the solution.

In the currently existing online file sharing service field we see three main problems: non-competitive legal alternatives for illegal file sharing, insufficient data preservation for future generations and limited free to use file sharing. As a solution to these problems we want to create Files.fm Library (FFL)  legal and free to use digital file library that provides the service for society where people can conveniently search, access and share useful content online with copyrights done right. By creating FFL we want to enable the magnificent usefulness of community supported P2P networks and eliminate their shortcomings.
For FFL development we are going to use the technical base of our existing system Files.fm cloud storage platform, that we created in 2008 and have been continuously improving until nowadays. In the existing system we already have implemented centralized file storing, sharing, selling, publishing and distribution. In addition to that we already have a working beta version of P2P file sharing and video streaming. We will expand the existing Files.fm system to create FFL by improving the P2P sharing, adding advanced content analysis, search and blockchain.

Files.fm Library - P2P file catalog and marketplace with intelligent search engine and blockchain payments. Files.fm Library will combine the existing digital library creation principles with new hybrid semi-decentralized technology, using P2P fog network of web browsers in order to reduce the costs and limitations of centralized digital libraries. The Library will focus heavily on creating and maintaining a community of volunteers, who would upload, tag and oversee useful files and who in return would be rewarded with FFM tokens.

Files.fm Library (FFL) to ensure data preservation for future generations, to eradicate illegal file sharing and to provide a convenient and searchable free to use file sharing. FFL corner stones will be usability, community and content. We will implement powerful search engine and catalogue and the system will work in any web browser. The community will be motivated with FFL tokens to do useful work, we will implement a transparent blockchain database and use Tit-for-Tat principles for storage sharing. The content will be free to store and use, it will be available through free and fast P2P shared traffic and the intelligent property content will be sold using blockchain technology.

How it Works?

The main actions that can be done in the FFL system by users are content search, use, adding, sorting, copyright claiming and content selling, as well investing their resources in the P2P network.

Users can use the FFL platform via any modern internet browser and will became as instant fog edge nodes. Users can upload files to FFL platform. Before publishing files on the Library, other community members (editors) will be able to vote, is it a useful and clean content. Users can participate in FFL content sorting. FFL will provide content sorting section in the web-page where files that need additional manual work for sorting will be listed. When FFL detects copyrighted content the access to that file is blocked. Users can participate in the FFL platforms technical upkeep by investing their computer’s free storage and network bandwidth in FFL P2P Network. Additionally to base functionality FFL platform will have special features and services. For example, we will develop various options for content embedding.

Token (FFM)

FFM is the native platform token that allows users to participate in the Files.fm Library and gain rewards for their work. The FFM token can be gained by uploading files, adding metadata, sharing free drive space or doing other things that are beneficial to the Files.fm Library. Users can spend their tokens on subscribing to pro features, buying private storage space or exchanging them for paid content, such as movies, TV shows, music or books.

Token detail :

ICO

Files.fm has issued its own Files.fm token with a ticker FFL, for the purpose of crowdsale and integration in the Files.fm platform. The token is based on ERC20 Ethereum technology, an open source, blockchainbased distributed computing platform with smart contracts. These cryptographically secure smart contracts are stateful applications stored in the Ethereum blockchain, fully capable of enforcing planned transactions.

The price of the token during Public crowdsale campaign will be priced $0.01. After the FFL blockchain is fully deployed, the annual inflation rate derived from the fundamental parameters of FFL – storage amount, content and community mining – useful work done, and is projected at 5% of tokens in use. The inflation represents a newly minted tokens for the added value by all members of the community who provide service for the FFL functionality, i.e., invest their resources and work.
